where have i been

My name is Andrew Still and I have an academic background in Science and the Humanities. I’ve been living here in Victoria since I was 7 years old. I didn’t do exceptionally well in academics because I didn’t see any value in doing so. I saw my enrollment in college as a fresh start, and while I was determined to get an English degree, after taking first-year courses, I also became passionate about Biology. Consequently, I graduated with a degree in Biology and English from the University of Victoria.

I’ve taught within the Sooke school district for over 5 years now, and currently run an adult-based graduation program, which allows students to graduate in as little as one semester. My students (aged 18 and up) come from quite diverse backgrounds, ranging from adolescents just getting out of juvy, to single parents trying to hold down a job at the same time.

My background is primarily in adult and alternative education, and I’m keen to learn more about better incorporating technology as a way to better prepare my students for the future. I also hope to eventually shift some of my courses to a blended learning format.
